Dr. John Birkmeyer is President at Sound Physicians, an inpatient medical group with practices in over 400 hospitals nationwide.  Since 2015, Sound has been among the largest participants in CMS’ BPCIA program, initiating over 300,000 episodes. Before joining Sound, he was Executive Vice President of Integrated Delivery Systems and Chief Academic Officer at Dartmouth Health.  A graduate of Harvard Medical School and an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, his research on hospital quality and costs has appeared regularly in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and Health Affairs.
